Oak Harbor DECA Announces Entrepreneur of the Week
Patricia Peters from Magruder Hospital is our second entrepreneur to be featured on our website. Read her biography below!
In 1940, Magruder Hospital was founded by Howard Magruder. The hospital is located in Port Clinton, Ohio has earned many national recognitions over the last several years. Magruder Hospital was named one of the "Top 50 Critical Access Hospitals to Know in 2015" by Becker's Hospital Review. Critical Access hospitals are restricted to twenty-five inpatient beds and serve rural populations. Only two Ohio critical access hospitals received this award.
Mrs. Patricia Peters began her career at Magruder obtaining her Associate’s Degree from Terra Community College. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Toledo in Individualized Studies with a focus on Human Resources. Over the past thirty-three years, she has held several progressive positions and is currently an Executive Assistant.
The medical field is a highly regulated industry and there are several federal requirements. Technological advances have also had a major impact on daily operations. Magruder Hospital was recognized as the “Most Wired” by the Hospitals & Health Networks. This award recognizes the level of IT adoption in U.S. hospitals and health systems. Magruder has been one the industry leaders in adopting the latest technology.
Mrs. Peters stated that she gained a vast amount of knowledge about computers from working in the medical field. She would advise young people to learn as much as they can about technology in order to be successful in the medical field as well as other careers. Technology will continue to impact the future of this industry.
